My father in law was turkey hunting about 15 years ago. He always wears snake boots, but it hates using a flashlight. He headed into the woods well before sunrise and went where he had roosted one the day before. Sat down with his back to a tree. As soon as he sat down he realized his mistake. Thankfully it was a cool morning, because he sat down on a coiled up copperhead. He said he could feel it trying to move but his weight kept if from getting out from under him.

He said he fished his light out of his pants and shined it between his legs and could see part of the snake but his ass was covering most of it. He took his knife out and cut the snake in several places then after about 15-20 minutes shifted enough to cut it a few more times. At about 8am he finally rolled off the snake (his legs were asleep by this time) and the snake was dead.

He said that snake scared him more than his 2 tours in Vietnam. He just knew it was going to bite him on the balls.

this would've made for an awesome gag gift that Christmas ... LOL

Never worn any. Worked outside every day on a survey crew for six years. Worked outside most days in the military including crawling around in swamps/desert/mountains/marshes. Have never been bit and never stepped on one. That said - you probably jinxed me and I'll get bit this weekend.

Have seen/killed/caught/messed with every kind of snake known to man and never really had any issues with them.

Spiders are a different story altogether.

I’ve worn snake boots since the late 90’s
I was hunting late December that year by myself...I was backed up in some brush watching a known crossing on an old roadbed . It was cold that morning and after several hours of sitting I got up to leave and less than 10’ from me in the road behind me was a huge rattled stretched out in the sun warming up
I’ve had several close calls since then but no bites

I’ve had many very close calls but no strikes. Basically almost stepped down or kicked a few. Very Blessed. I wear snake boots more than most folks too

Once with chaps on by a timber rattler, he started rattling after he struck. I had a cottonmouth strike and just miss while fishing one morning, got lucky that time as I was just in jeans and fishing a beaver pond a good ways from the truck.

Been hit twice. Cotton mouth, had on rubber boots so no problem. Same with a rattler. Never had any snake boots.

I like wearing snake boots just fine. It’s the putting them on and taking them off that’s a pain in the tail. The ankle support is reassuring when walking through the woods.

Copperhead got me on my index finger once, I was NOT wearing snake boots at the time.
So now I wear snake boots.

Been probably 6 or 7 years since I’ve worn snake boots. Got tired of getting 2 years and they would start leaking. Went to wearing Lacrosse Grange boots and I can walk all day in them. This past season I bought TurtleSkins gaiters for me and my son. Wish I had bought them 5 years ago. They are super easy to put on and take off and it doesn’t matter what boot you want to to wear that day. I keep a set in my truck for whenever I may need them.

Zero. I've been close but not hit. Now sticks and guns have saved me several times.
