I could respect someone who ran as an Independent who held certain views that even I may not agree with (within limits), because they had integrity in their politics because they knew they didn't belong in either party so they were intellectually honest and ran as and Independent. I have zero issue with that person, unless they are a socialist like Bernie Sanders....but that's on another level of stupid.
