Considering all our weather moves West to East, why do hurricanes do the opposite?? I guess the answer would explain why the West coast never gets hit with hurricanes.

Skinny how bad do you thinks it’s going to get in our area? I’m just north of Andalusia in Straughn. I remember Hurricane Opal was bad for us when she hit.

You got that right. I drove from Montgomery to Luverne about an hour ago. There was basically a steady line of North bound cars on 331.

It aint gonna be Opal for us, but its still gonna be breezy enough that you shouldnt let your guard down and make sure you got all your flashlights charged up. I suspect some power outages for our side. Any computer/internet work you got to do, I suggest you get it done this morning.

When I came through Chesson, Al last night well after dark the Segrest were running two pickers getting as much cotton out as they could ahead of the storm.

Mostly because they are strong enough to go where they go, but they do get steered by weather fronts, like this one is supposed to be, if that cold front slows down any at all this thing could head straight north, like Skinny said no matter what it is going to be bad on the coast..

I just don't understand the people that stay, I know you want to protect your property but damn if you live right on the coast or over in the big bend area you are going to be under 5'-15' of water....

Pressure is still dropping and there’s nothing to inhibit further intensification.

We’re about to witness a worst case scenario for the Florida Panhandle. A rapidly strengthening CAT 4 at landfall.

From the NHC. 7AM CDT advisory
Quote
Reports from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft
indicate that maximum sustained winds have increased to near 145 mph
(230 km/h) with higher gusts. Michael is an extremely dangerous
category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.
Some additional strengthening is possible before landfall.

Jeff Pitrowski is overlooking a mobile home park at PCB on the coast. He says that the mobile home park still has about 30% occupancy. https://www.pscp.tv/Jeff_Piotrowski/1DXxyYjlEALxM

Somebody that can post pics pm me your number. I just pulled the actual raw, unfiltered data off the NOAA sea bouy weather station from 4:50 am that was roughly 20 miles NE of the eye wall. These area actual on the ground/water wind speeds both sustained and gusts. I screen shot the pics and would like to get some opinions. The bouy, which is a NOAA calibrated device sitting in the Gulf directly in the path of the storm and not somebodiy's home brew weather station, says max sustained winds of 60.31 mph and gusts to 75.96 which is a far cry from CaT 4 winds.

I was going to use this to try to convince my business partner to move his family back to the west from Seaside. I know it is going to be a bad storm but now that I pulled it up, I have no clue as to what wind speeds are to be believed? Media says one thing, actual raw unmanipulated data says something completely different. Partner says it was the same with the last buoy it passed at 4:00 yesterday. They were saying 120mph and buoy said 51 mph with gusts to 64. By the way the hourly weather forecasts for PCB, PC, and Apalachicola are all showing projected winds of 76-93 mph at 2-3 o'clock this afternoon which ties in with what the buoys are saying. I'd just like some consistent accurate info. I haven't seen the first thing showing CAT 4 winds other than the weather guys. It's going to be a bad storm regardless but I'm honestly not sure how bad. Eglin AFB meteorologists are calling for 40-45 sustained here and gusts to around 60. That is only 40 miles west if it makes landfall in PC.

Unfortunately, most likely 100% correct. Those people obviously have no idea what they’re about to experience.
