Make sure it’s not a metal roof on top of shingles. Wouldn't have thought they'd even do that. Why, specifically, is that bad? It’ll make your attic hotter than hell. And depending on which direction the furring is run; will cause some serious leaks once the rubber gaskets on the screws wear out.
