Why is a 10 year old truck with 250k miles and up worth $15-20k....even some of the gas burners ive seen have been ridiculously priced...every truck i look at in my price range is wore slap out nearly and people are still askin an arm and a leg for them. I dont even look at new trucks.

I am in the same boat. It is ridiculous.

Demand. The top 4 selling automobiles right now are trucks and SUVs. The Toyota Camry, at number 5, is the best-selling car.

It is nuts. My 32year old K5 has served me well. Mine was recently parked at a Mechanic Shop- I was getting some tune up work done that I haven't had time to do. The mechanic told me that he stopped counting the number of people who stopped asking if it was for sale. It about made me wanna list it for a ridiculous amount.
The fool tells me his reasons; the wise man persuades me with my own.

Yup, I routinely get people trying to buy mine. "Hey man, want to sell your Blazer?!" Naw, thanks for asking. I've got the equivalent of used ATV money into mine. Sitting at around $3,500'ish. I hope to eventually make it something decent but for right now it is perfect for me. It's been surprisingly reliable given the low expectations I had for it when I got it.

New truck prices keep the used truck prices high. 2 year old trucks bring nearly new prices. I have no idea who buys them. I’ll stick with new if it’s only $3k more... This keeps used trucks high and the people that by used trucks for al lost new money are the ones that usually finance with the finance company the used car dealer goes through for in house so to speak financing which usually will approve almost any tom, dick, or harry for a high interest rate. Some of the diesel trucks are high because of their pre emissions which is what usually plagues the newer trucks in fuel mileage and longevity. If you haven't noticed it's also why most of your delivery company's are swapping to gas burners, like ups, uniforms companies and the like that run local routes

The myth of losing 15-20% when you drive off the lot is just that, a myth, for trucks at least. I bet it loses less than 5% if that. Used Toyota Tacoma. 2016 145,000 miles smoked in, salvage title, needs tires, $28,500 is what the used truck market looks like lol

I gave up and quit looking. I bit the bullet and bought a new one. Prices are crazy for used trucks.

The myth of losing 15-20% when you drive off the lot is just that, a myth, for trucks at least. I bet it loses less than 5% if that. I just bought a 2018 GMC Sierra crew cab Z71 with 5280 miles on it at a local dealership. I paid $5000 less than one with 0 miles on it.

I’ll keep my 2012 Chevy crew cab z71 that is paid for. Crossed my mind about getting a newer one, but with the prices so high, I’ll keep driving it.. Yup, same with my '11 Z71. Took it in to get serviced Thursday, and had a salesman ask me if that was my truck. When I said yes, he said I'd sure like to get it from you. I said you can, but you have to be willing to trade me straight up for a new one. I haven't had a payment on that truck since 2014, and don't intend to start now.

I just finished looking and couldn’t find anything lightly used with much of a discount.
