I met with the Dean of Students (voluntarily) about UAB two years ago and posed this question. “If someone pulled a gun on me on school property, and I used a firearm in self defense, what would happen?” He told me that I would be expelled, no questions asked.

I also had to meet with the Dean of Students at USA because I was at a fraternity house one night that was raided by campus police while some people were drinking. I told the dean that I wasn’t drinking (which was the truth) and that there was no way they could prove I was. I was told that school rules state “if there is enough alcohol present for you to have been drinking, you’re guilty.”

Both of these obviously contradict how things are in reality, but the code of conduct was used to justify it, and my attorney (family friend, haven’t actually needed one) said that it wasn’t worth fighting because of what we agreed to upon enrollment.
