I'm in the market too this winter to replace my 50" Dixie Chopper with the 27hp Generac. I'm looking at either the 60 or 72" Kubota ZD1211 with the Diesel engine. More than likely go with the 72" deck for both quicker mow times and higher blade tip speeds, and I want the diesel for more torque and hope to make it last and be my last mower purchase ever.
Unless you have a pool table (read almost perfectly flat) for a yard get the 60. Every time. The 72 will trim under bushes and split rail fence like a champ because the left side of the deck sticks almost a foot outside the tire. Trouble is, it'll scalp like an Apache if the ground rolls very much or if you make a super sharp turn to the right, it'll dip down a little and cut deeper.
If you're cutting tall grass you can run faster in the same conditions with the 60" deck so you're acres per hour won't be a whole lot different.
