Pto speed sensor is probably the problem.

Could be this. There is a solenoid valve around the pto shaft that should have a wire harness connecting to it. Worth a try

Is your pto switch electric or lever type?

It should be electric over hydraulic. And its either the sensor/solenoid on the back or the switch its self.

There's a screen filter located just below the PTO shaft. I'm not sure if it would affect the PTO but if it's clogged it can surely slow the loader. Have you cleaned that one?

My Deere did that. It is a little LX 176. I had just replaced the pull up PTO switch last summer. Darn thing was over $60! Anyway, I looked on the Internet and saw where you can bypass the PTO to test by using a 4" piece of wire to jump the yellow to the blue(bundle off the PTO switch) to start it up and yellow to the brown for the PTO. If that works it is definitely the switch. Also it said to check the safety block which was under the battery on mine to make sure it is not blocking the engagement of the PTO. There is the dead man's switch under the seat. Check it is plugged in if you had to put hydro fluid in and had to move the seat to get to it. It is usually one of the three(for my setup anyway). I hope it helps! I bet it is the PTO switch, the JD units suck! I just drilled a hole and put a waterproof SPST switch on my dash and ran positive to the brown wire of the PTO bundle, so once I have started the motor I can engage the blades. Works like a champ. Screw the JD switches. I actually like my setup better!

Juust a bit of difference between a lawn mower and a 65 HP tractor.

If your loader is slow to you might have lost pressure some where. I'd check the hydraulic filter it's on the left hand side of the tractor under the floor right in front of the rear axle and cut it open to see if there any metal flakes in it or brake material where a brake came apart. Like outback said there's a screen you can pull out its on the rear axle housing I can't remember if it's under the PTO on the 6000 series tractor or under the axle housing or in front of the rear axle housing just below the hydraulic filter on the right hand side. If all those check out ok you need to get you a service manual and a oil pressure gauge to start checking ports for hydraulic pressure. It could be as simple as a blown o ring or pump failure those tractors have a pump in the belly of the tractor and a pump at the front of the engine driven off the crank. Just hope and pray you don't find a lot of brake material like the brake disc material let go.

I'm a pretty fair shade tree mechanic, especially for most things John deere.
But I had no idea those two were interchangeable.
How did you get the idea to try that?
Color me impressed.

It didn’t have anything to do with front end loader I had moved the bucket speed to slow position on back of the tractor

Check the pto solenoid it should have 9-11 ohms. If it’s the pto speed sensor when you turn the pto on the shaft will turn for a few seconds then turn off. But I would bet it’s the solenoid. Also if it’s the solenoid you can swap it with the diff lock solenoid and see if it works. If you swap it you can’t swap the valves just the solenoids.
