Looking at a 96 bumble bee 180 with an 05 Yamaha 150hp vmax hpdi. Any thoughts on this motor? The only other motor I've ever had was a mercury. Any pros and cons on this motor. The boat had a mercury 175hp on it and the guy bought a different boat and is switching the motors and dropping the price alot. Anything special I need to look for with the Yamaha Motor, when I test drive it? The boat itself is a 9.9 out of 10. Thanks

Do a compression test. Run it. Everyone else on here will tell you they are the best motor made. I like them. They sell good. Change all the filters and you should be good. Make sure they get all the gauges hooked back up right. Also, I don't think you can bypass the oil injection, so make sure it's all there.

Is this boat green and tan [quote=klay]Is this boat green and tan by chance? Klay it's not green n tan, and they will do a compression test and r not bypassing the oil injection. I made sure of that.

Have a 07 200hpdi as long as you run good gas through it and keep the scrrens an filters clean its a good engine. Ours pushes a 22ft wellcraft 220 coastal and we ran it 30miles offshore saturday without issue. My brother runs it on 25 mile turnarounds pretty regular and it sips fuel. We love ours.

The 1st gen HPDI were crap and stayed in the shop. The 2nd gen are great motors. Stay away from the 1st gens imo
