I decided to grow a beard again after many years without. The last full beard I grew was probably close to 20 years ago. I wore a goatee for many years up until a couple of years ago and have been clean shaven until about a month ago. I always kept the goatee very short.

So I really dig the way it looks but I'm not so crazy about how it sometimes feels. I'm thinking of maybe doing something somewhere between Jeremiah Johnson and Phil Robertson. I've been looking around online at some beard products but who the heck knows what is good and what works until you try it and I don't want a dozen different tubes of beard goo cluttering up the place. I'd like to make it a little softer and not so itchy. It's not itchy all the time but sometimes is. So what do you bearded ones do if anything, or am I just being a giant wuss?

I can’t stand eating and drinking with facial hair. I smoke cigarettes too, so it’s even worse.

Don't feel too bad, I sometimes have to shave mine due to skin problems. Itchy, flaky, red.
Let the skin air out for a week or so and grow it back.

I guess I've been fortunate, I've never experienced the itchiness from growing one out. I keep mine pretty short these days just cause the wife prefers it that way, but even when I'd let it get shaggier it never bothered me. Only thing that does get on my nerves is when the hair around my mouth starts tickling my lips or getting in my mouth, so I make sure to keep that trimmed even when growing the rest out.

I don't wear make-up or paint my finger nails, and I don't use beard care products either.
I just trim the unruly grays occasionally.

I've used oil; couldn't tell it did much.

Just be sure to wash AND CONDITION your beard.

Rest of these heathens may just like having smelly ass beards. Who knows.

Just using the same shampoo as on my head right now. I'll add some conditioner.

I think part of it is that I'm letting it grow both out and a little lower down my neck. I trim the borders and bottom of mustache but that's it. Hoping maybe some of it is just the transition period and once it gets a little longer I'll get better used to it. I've always kept it short before.

Haven't had a beard in about 35 years. I worked for a guy when I had it who said every day lookin' at your face is makin' the queers around here get wood. Shave it off. I finally did....the millennials are really into beard oil and such. I was with a group of them in D.C. last week. Went into a men's skin care boutique (yes, in Georgetown) each of them spent about $60 in lotion and beard oil. slap

I use some stuff from Walmart in a green bottle called Garnier fructis. It helps with the itching. Before that I made my own stuff, but the Walmart stuff is easier. About 2 a week I put some conditioner in. The rest of the time I just was it out with water.
Just let it grow and trim it. Once it gets longer you can shape it.

I've had a beard for going on 30 years and I've never used anything but shampoo on it. If I let it go for a while without trimming it'll itch some, that just reminds me to get the trimmers out and clean it up.

Used to shave during the Summer months, then beard during hunting season.

Been toting a beard year around for the last probably 15 years. Just keep it trimmed.

Now, if you want to talk about the itching part,,, I once shaved my junk and man,,,,,, nevermind... I dropped my razor in the toilet and never did that again...

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

You don’t need all that mess but if you think it’ll help you go for it. Just keep growing it, it’ll quit itching.
