I was just out shooting my bow and when I released the arrow I heard a crack and felt a pain in my hand. Looked down and I was bleeding like a stuck hawg.

Got the bleeding stopped and am waiting on the boss lady to come take me to get stitches.

I thought I had a limb break or something but it was an arrow. I don't know what happened to my arrow, but it broke clean into and part of it stuck in my off hand. Hurts like a summer beach, but I am gonna live. laugh

Anybody ever had this happen??

Hope everything is alright. Never heard that before. I can't see the pics here on the clock.

Wow, just got in from shooting my bow! Hope you heal before 10/15 enough to hunt. Good question above about what kind of arrow it was.

As unlucky as you may feel - I would get down and thank the Lord it wasn't worse. I hate to think what could have happened - hopefully you will have a speedy recover.

Hey brother, I did that as soon as I got the bleeding stopped. thumbsup It could have been a whole lot worse.

Don't know what the situation is gonna be for opening day, may have to borrow a crossbow for the first week or 2. Might be a little tendon damage, just don't know yet.

On a side note I have to give props to Trussville Urgent Care. I was in and outta there in no time. thumbsup

Now I'm just scared to shoot my bow. Hey WIDGEON, you wanna shoot it for me and check it out? laugh laugh

Did you get some good drugs? laugh

You probably hit that arrow with another arrow because you're shooting at the same spot on your target. Carbon arrows are not like aluminum, if you scrape them with a second aro, they will splinter. The break may not be obvious right away. The stress from additional shots will eventually cause it to shatter.

Always shoot your carbon arrows at different spots. I know the tight group looks cool, but now you got a hole in your hand.

That is some good advice, even if it was from Outback...

Glad you're ok Pat. I know that hurt like hell. Rodney (JRJNBAMA) had one explode a few years ago upon release. Luckily it didn't get his hand. Bad thing is he was shooting at a nice buck. eek He was shooting those tapered Arrow Dynamics shafts. Looks like you were shooting a Beman ICS Field shaft. The only time I've witnessed it was a couple of years ago. A guy shooting the top 16 round at the Buckmasters World Championship had one explode on him upon release. It didn't get his hand, but it took out his sight. Bad thing for him, he didn't have a back up bow. eek

I had one explode about a month ago... Initially I couldnt figure out what happened... all I heard was a loud noise and could hear stuff hitting in the trees 50' above my head... all i found was a 4" section from the middle of the arrow and the nock so it broke in at least 2 places... this arrow had been used and abused so it was probably my fault but it looked good to me and had no visible pbms...

it was a Beman ICS Hunter (400)

I have been shooting the arrow dynamic tapered arrows for 8 years and never had a problem with them. Actually the toughest arrow I have ever used. But it is possible to get 1 bad in any I guess.

Same thing happened to me bout 2 years ago. Was shooting brand new carbon force arrows by pse. When I released the arrow it flew apart. Splinters of it were stuck all in my hand, had to dig'em out. It was a brand new arrow that I'd just screwed a field tip on.

Like Sonny said, I had it happen and it was a brand new arrow, sounded like a .38 going off when I released

Larry Odell a archery specialist here in marshal and dekalb county had one blow up on him.he told me it comes from getting a nick in the shaft most of the time.it messed his hand up pretty bad.
