... easton 2016 xx75s from three rivers archery. matched to my specs, and my bow's: old school bear grizzly, 45-pounds. about 48 pounds at my almost 30-inch draw. the otter fur silencers on my bow aren't dampening sufficiently. suggestions?

Wool puffs are all I use, easy to make yourself, also a sloppy release is always louder than a clean one. That being said once I shot a longbow all recurves are loud.lol. You can also wrap where the string sits in the grooves on the limbs, but I don't bother personally. Use real wool not acrylic yarn if you go that route

Have you checked your brace height?
Might try raising your BH? I usually use Mountain Muffler strings with wrapped yarn or fur on the ends of the string where the string slaps the limb to dampen noise. Sometimes I will put velcro over the string grooves if I don't have the ends of the string wrapped.
Light arras can cause noise but that wouldn't be the problem with a 2016, as much as it weighs.

used waxed fake sinew to whip on a couple of wool puffballs made from my bride's yarn (her permission, of course). put 'em next to the otter fur balls. opened three nocks a bit. sound is down to a quiet, gentlemanly "tunk." thanks for all of the help, guys.

I’d like to hear what you think of the arrows. I am toying with ordering some xx75 camo hunters myself. I have plenty of carbons but I grew up shooting aluminum arrows and think it would be fun to take a walk down memory lane. My set up is a bear takedown 45llbs and my draw is 30”.

Boker, you could probably get away with a 2018 with that long draw.
2016s are a good all around shaft.
We started out with 2016s and wood in the 70s.

I can’t find any 2018’s long enough. Wonder if 2016 would work? My bow is about 48lbs at my draw

2016 with 125 grain point should work.

I was going to say this exact same thing. TG might disagree but don't just go by manufacturers suggested BH. Mine is 3/4" more than what is suggested but it took that to quieten it. I very rarely have issues with noise due to the lack of silencers.

I agree 100%. I don't claim to be an expert but in 40 plus years I have never been satisfied with the low end of manufacture's brace height recommendations.
I know it depends some on your draw length.
I draw 28 inches and all my bows are set at 8 to 8 1/2 inches.
I am real finicky when it comes to feel and noise.
Brace height and arrow weight/ spine is usually the problem...or release.

everything is fine, now, gentlemen. 8-inch brace height, home brew wool yarn silencers, and some nock work have yielded near silent release. only the softest "tunk" remains. working the nocks really settled things down. they still grip enough to stay in place. zero yaw and whale tale on arrows. thanks for all the help.

Oh yea..forgot about the nocks. Makes a big difference.
Sounds like you got it ready to hunt.
Shot my 1970s Bear Grizzly some yesterday. I noticed how quiet it was, I love a quiet shootin bow.
