When we were kids my grandad trolled McDonald's straws for Spanish mackerel. We used to fill the boat up. So yes straws are dangerous to marine life Works just as well on Chicken Dolphin too. We hit a weed line about thirty miles out last year during snapper season. We had limited light tackle on the boat but I had some jig heads in my tackle bag and we had a couple of spinning reels. So we cut up a bonito and started working the weed line. We got on chicken dolphin and was wearing them out. The boat was a mess! We eventually ran out bonito and they would hit just the jig head. We left one on the line up close to the boat and as soon as you threw out they would swim towards the jig head and hit before the hooked fish would. We cleaned over seventy that afternoon.
Proud Army and ALNG veteran God Bless America!
