The show is fake. The only thing coming out of those stills is water and the show has just become another reality TV show. Scripted.

Personally, I fast forward through the Tim parts in whatever episode I have recorded. I just can't stand to watch him. I watch Mark Ramsey and Digger Manes faithfully though. Those guys are hilarious and seem to get along really good. I also like to watch any episode with Mark Rogers in it. He's just a good ol' country boy that could survive anything I bet.

To heck with watching it on TV... I have been thinking I'd try and make some. I'd just be just using it for fuel of course so nothing illegal.... thumbup

Seems interesting I think I could get into it.... lots of chemistry going on there.

My co worker got busted about 3 years ago in laceys spring. In his garage. Got caught through facebook. He wooped his son, son posted somethin on facebook about him getn a good woopin. A mom saw it and called dhr! He came home from work. Saw the law at his house. Dhr piddled around his house and found a 35 gallon steel and a lot of mash. The guy had a great career so it wasnt for money. His kid was fine. They took him to jail for the steel.

He always gave me a weird feelin like he was a snitch or acted like he was better than everyone.
You could call him a barney fiffe for sure by the way he acted at work.

You're right, those hillbillies been doing it a long time. Many times handed down through several generations. There IS a lot to making good whiskey. You sure ain't gonna read it in a book or watch a youtube video.

In high school I made a small working still for a science project. They would kick a young'un out of school for that now.

Was that before prohibition?

There is a distillery in Colbert County on LaGrange Mountain now. A guy brought a bottle to a friend's house last weekend. I didn't try it. I would like to though.
