Time to legalize it and regulate alcohol.

There are two different species of pot, Cannabis sativa and Cannabis indica. They both contain the major psychoactive ingredient, tetrahydrocannabinol. At least another 113 cannabinoids have been identified, with little known about the effects of most of them. The combination of ingredients in the sativas seems to be stimulating to most users, giving an energetic mind buzz. Indicas give that famous "couch lock"--just too stoned to get up and do anything. Today most strains are hybrids of the two species, giving a wide variety of effects. This website can give you a guide to picking a strain to suit your situation.

One of the advantages of legalization is that you can walk into a well-stocked dispensary and have a knowledgeable budtender aid in your exploration. If you are living in Alabama, just remember that our old buddy Jeff Sessions says "good people don't smoke marijuana", so you don't have much choice, and pay much higher prices.

On a personal level, I pick a strain that fits the situation. Unlike many here in Oregon, I don't 'wake and bake". I treat it much like alcohol--no driving or operating tools like mowers or chainsaws. At the end of the day, a good bowl helps with relaxation and back pain. My wife does the same with wine. If you are feeling a little ragged or worried, it can smooth thing up. It enhances sensory experiences--food tastes great, you hear things in your music that you missed before, and the sounds and sights of nature are intensified.

When bedtime comes around, you can take your pick. An indica heavy strain like Gorilla Glue #4 can put you right to sleep--no tossing and turning. If tossing and turning or rolling and tumbling seems like a good idea, share a bowl of something sativa based like Alaska Thunder, put on Luther Allison's "Live in Chicago" and let the good times roll.

No hangover; and it does not make you think you can whip everyone's azz. That would require you to get off the couch; so whatever.

That’s what those idiots don’t realize. You can grow it and smoke it but you still cannot have it in your system on the job.

Freedom and responsibility apply to those I agree with as well as those I don’t. You wanna smoke dope or get drunk I don’t care. Hurt my kin on or off drugs or other intoxicants and if the law don’t gitcha I’ll certainly be looking for some payback.

People should be free to screw up all they want. Just as companies should be free to hire them or not.

In the states where medical or recreational marijuana is legal, many job applicants are no longer being tested for pot. Unlike most drugs,THC is fat soluble, so it can remain in your body for weeks after use. An employer has to decide if they want to exclude good workers who come to work clear-headed but smoke evenings and weekends.

It's true certain employers won't require drug testing but, most places worth working to support a family will continue testing. Any job where a security clearance is required will also continue to drug test since federal law prohibits use. There's also a difference in medical and personal use.

Florida passed a medicinal marijuana law a year or so ago, but I don't think a cancer or glaucoma patient can get the much needed relief that the drug potentially offers. I don't want to see a Colorado type recreation usage law passed, but as long as a patient with a problem that can be helped with marijuana oils or usage, then it is a no-brainer. Requirement of a pain management doctor signing off on the prescription should be required.

The only reason I don't smoke it now is because I get drug tested at work. When I retire I may stay stoned for a month.

By not legalizing it both recreationally and medically we are leaving money on the table. Farmers need more crops to grow and our schools could use the extra tax dollars.

Excellent points on both sides but no middle ground. Anything can be abused but it requires an abuser which is not a user. Sounds like gun control.

This, my friends, is thinking that gets people killed! I don't care if you smoke a joint a foot long, but get behind the wheel of a car and you are a danger to yourself and everyone else on the road.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

They need to figure out something on driving under the influence... same as a Breathalyzer. Anything that impairs you at all... that 100% needs to be banned from use while driving. That's just being responsible.. if you are not you deserve the same as a drunk driver. It is all about hurting someone else. Otherwise I don't care. I don't smoke it but you don't see a bunch of stoners out causing trouble. We are leaving a lot of tax revenue on the table and spending an untold amount of resources on it while we've got bigger problems like Heroin. You cut off the pot illegally moving into the country because there is no illegal market now you can focus on something that is addictive, will kill you, destroy lives and families, etc. If you catch drugs coming in it will be the bad stuff.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

here (miss'ippi), used to be if you're convicted of possession, your license was yanked like a dui...not sure if it is still enacted, since there has been some degree of decriminalization in the capital city.

I believe they do. Little swabs they use in your mouth. They have a number of tests actually
