There's a few things I'm looking for to round out my collection.

Wood stock Sako in .257 Wby, .308, or 6.5 CM if such exists. With or without (prefer) glass (under $1k)

3-12x56 Zeiss Conquest or Meopta Meostar scope. Like the Steiner GS3 but they're relatively new I think and don't think there would be many in my price range ($5-700)

Magnum Research Desert Eagle .50 AE. Yes, this is ridiculous I know, but if I can find a used one I won't buy the gold colored zebra stripe pattern Pimp Special new one I want so badly.

1911 in 5" barrel in a mid grade. Kimber, maybe Ruger, Smith, Colt or Sig. $6-800 range

Have a few oddball items I might trade. Hate to get rid of guns but don't have unlimited cash.

I also want a portable sawmill, a Fish & Ski boat with at least a 150 outboard, and a nice Suzuki Samurai but no real hurry on those.

Bought the one I have now for (AV .30-'06) for $750 with a Leuopold 3-9x40 XIII on it. Don't exp ft to repeat that. Want to buy one WITHOUT glass at or under a grand. With would be extra obviously. Seen a couple lately without glass for $900-$1k.

Good luck. My dad had a Wood stock Sako carbine 308 years ago. That was a sweet gun.

I can hook you up on the Suzuki samurai today! I have a nice 88 hard top with new engine, tires, clutch pressure plate and throw out bearing, came from Utah so not rusted out and completely stock.

Decent tires. Not lifted and mud ridden. Body in decent shape. Reliable. Most things work, etc. Not a project.

Why do you feel the need to chime in to another man’s ad if you have nothing positive to say?

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not." Thomas Jefferson

"I ask, who are the militia? They consist of now of the whole people, except a few public officers." George Mason

Well, I did almost this today.

Bought a Sako L61R Finnbear in .30-'06 for $599 plus tax. At a pawn shop no less. Now it's not perfect. It was someone's hunting gun. Bluing's maybe 85% and wood about the same. Some scratches and scuffs. Truth be known, if it was perfect I likely wouldn't have bought it. I have a nearly flawless AIII in .270 I almost won't hunt with, for fear of scratching it.

Here's how dumb I really am. I picked up the gun and looked it over. Was marked $899 which still was reasonable I thought and would have been cheap on a really nice example. I put it back in the rack and started to leave. Decided to interrupt the owner who was in the middle of a conversation with a couple guys.

"Would you do any better than that for cash?" I asked. He picked up the gun and looked it over. Told me "Well, when I have these red tags on them, it's about what I've got in it". He started to set it back and the tag spun around. The back side of the tag read "$599". I about swallowed my gum. Told him "If you'll take a credit card, just hand me that thing back and we'll do business". Nice people there.

It may shoot 4" groups at 100 yds but I'll be surprised if it does. If it doesn't do what I need, I remember how to get to Jim McCollough in Selma.

Well, I won't need to take it to Jim, for accuracy reasons anyway. Took it to Campbell's Hardware here in Robertsdale and had a scope I'd bought a few months ago put on and sighted in. Three shot group with adjustments made between and they could be covered with a nickel. Rifle's a lot older than I thought, too. What I find online says they made that model from 1962 to 1973.

Does anybody know someone who refinishes stocks and does a nice job? South of Hwy. 80 preferably. I wouldn't mind spending a little money on this.
