The problem here in Alabama with creating any new market whether it be pot or a lottery is not about being righteous or biblical. Its really about how the money gets split up. Our Legislature is historically the most dishonest bunch of asshats this land has ever known. Nobody here trusts anybody with the purse strings. Our dishonesty is what really holds us back from being able to move forward to anything. I wish we would admit that and start getting on with practical things.

I think that there is a fair chance that Trump will legalize it in a couple of years. It would be a heck of a vote getter. Morally, I don't care. The corrosive effects of the "war on drugs" are too numerous to count. The government has spent billions in the last 40 years, but the price (per milligram of THC) has gone steadily downward. If you are middle class/rich and get popped, Daddy's lawyer pleads you out and you pay a fine/get in a program. If you are poor, you get hung with a record for the rest of your life. We've created a nation of scofflaws, since it is commonplace, yet the government claims to be completely serious about eliminating it.
Used to be a lifeguard, until that blue kid got me fired.

Guess I'll listen to Grateful Dead and Widespread Panic all day. Prolly throw in some Pink Floyd later on!
What time should I be there? Say 4:19 or so?

It will probably be decriminalized nationwide and Alabama will say "Not Here!" while all other states around us capitalize on it. Sound familiar? It's not like we have a prime growing climate or anything. There will be plenty of private security jobs if it does become legal!
