Was back there this morning and Curtis bud was gobblin good, found him later in neighbors pasture struttin and gobblin with NO hens, couldn’t pull him in. May go back this afternoon. UPDATE: back at 4 to the property line and cackled hard. He gobbled....directly behind me! He was on my property in the edge of a hayfield along a creek smz, I saw him step into the smz, tried him again but no response. I headed around to where I thought he might be headed to roost ( near Curtis’ roost area) and sat and called softly til 6...nothing, but I think he will be on me in the morning!

Update: Curtis’ bud was quiet as a shy mouse. Stayed 45 minutes . Back at 2:30 to the edge of a clover field. I was nestled back in the brush looking the field over. Scratched a jet slate that needed sanding and was diggin in my pocket for the sandpaper and looked up and he had stepped out of the shadows and was walking down the edge of the field at about 40 steps. No mask, no gloves, I squatted down to hide and get the shot under some limbs. The recoil from the 20 kicked me backwards on my back (27 steps). Jumped up and reloaded but another no flop tss kill! This could be Curtis bud, or his daddy! 12” beard, 1” spurs, 23 lbs,14 oz. asking gracious AC870 to post pics for me. NOW! Are they gobbling in Jackson County? Headed up there for a couple of days tomorrow. Also any hidden jewels to take my host out to eat up that way?
