The question is - are those boots shucks proof? Because, it would take an absolutely unreasonable amount of clothes soap and toilet paper to get the shucks off of me, my clothes, and those boots after stepping into that snake pit.

As far as boots working, it is all about the material the boot is made of that can classify it as snake proof.
The material has to resist punctures and so on...

As I put my boots on to hunt later that year, I checked, and the boot would have covered me by 1".
But, it could have easily bit higher.
A few days in the hospital will make you do a little more looking before sitting.

However, I went my whole life playing sports and pushing my joints to the max.
Around 12 hours from making it an entire year from the bite, I tore my knee up bad.
ACL, MCL, and Meniscus with complete tears and a partial LCL tear.
Not saying it was related, but there is the possibility.
