Serious question, IF he goes to hell, do you think he is there now, or is he resting until judgment day?
The way I understood things is upon death you get welcomed to the streets of gold or cast into the lake of fire. I don't know of any waiting room, transition period or possible hangout scenario. Perhaps one of our more learned Bible scholars can provide more insight. Basically, without going too far into it and not starting a dreaded "spin off" thread: I have never seen anything in the Bible that supports the idea of "Purgatory". It is a Catholic idea that stems from a misunderstanding of the redeeming and sanctifying work of Christ on the cross and verses that surround that.
