my most visited mineral sites are in open Harwood areas with a good summer canopy and where the soil is not to Sandy but won't hold water when they create a hole.

I have about 7 different sites so I normally buy what ever tractor supply has on sale and keep a trace mineral block on site for slow release. some one will be along shortly to tell you Clorox stumps lol.

If the "bait bill" passes will it be legal to use a red mineral block in sight for deer? Cbosch I usually take trace mineral loose salt and mix 50/50 with Di-Calcium Phosphate.

are you guys using these more as attractants or is there anything that says it actually makes deer grow bigger antlers or body weights? Just not that familiar with them. Thanks.

It has trace minerals that help with the rack growth, although how much it helps is unknown.

Here is what I do.

1 - Di-calcium Phosphate
1 - Trace mineral salt
2 - Salt
1 - Ag Lime

Put it in a pile and stir it up. Put a camera on it with a big SD card.

2 parts red trace mineral, 1 part di-cal phosphate . I usually put 1 50lb bag of trace mineral and 1/2 bag of di-cal. There is NO need to add more salt, as red trace mineral is about 90% salt.

2 dogs is right don't add salt trace has more than enough to get there attention. Salt has nothing to do with with helping antler growth or lactating does or anything for that matter. I have discussed this with biologist and opinions vary but salt don't help and possibly could make them want to consume more water in place of high quality browse.

Whatever ya use don’t use trophy rock for they are over 90% salt. Antler King is a pretty good one and so is Grandpa Ray Outdoors mineral. Both have good calcium and phosphorus content.

Dig a hole about 24" x 6" deep. Mix twi parts trace salt to one part dical. Pour mixture in the hole and mix with the dirt.

I would love to see what Matt's opinion is on this or any biologist.
