How can they get away with not selling firearms to 18, 19 & 20 year olds when a bakery owner gets penalized for not baking a cake for a couple of fags?

Y'all don't forget that Academy was owned by a Houston family that donated heavily to Hilary Clinton's first (2008) campaign and also other Democratic candidates. They were using hunters' money to support anti-gun candidates. And now Academy is owned by a multi-national investment-holding group based in New York City.

Shop local.

Well within their rights, just as it is for you that disagree with them to not step foot in their store.

Maybe just maybe it is marketing genius at work. As many have posted, Dicks gun (low margin) selection sucks and overpriced. So if they can appeal to the liberal market, it could attract more shoppers, cause most 2nd amendment guys and hunters are passing them anyway. I am sure Dicks rather sell kids clothes and shoes vs guns.

That's my point, just stop selling anything gun related at all, focus on the clothes, shoes, fishing gear, camping gear, team sports, etc.

I hear ya. The "i don't need an AR, so that is OK" crowd, would still shop there.

How about academy?

No, sir. I haven't been in either since Sandy Hook and have never been in a Field and Stream. I've also boycotted GM (The American Family has changed Olympic ad campaign) and Target (allowing people to use the bathroom of the gender they identify with). The only thing these people understand is $$$ and they can't have mine until they say they screwed up. They made their business decision, I made mine. I pretty much buy from local shops (The Shur Shot, Mark's, Simmons, or Nichols) or buy on-line.

Mark's is really the only business I "boycott".........and it's just because they, as a whole, are condescending douchebags.

That letter was written by their law firm cause their board was told they are starring down the barrel (pun intended) of a lawsuit.

I don't know that, that's just my interpretation after reading it. Why would they alienate their customers? That's a marketing no-no and even a freshman snowflake could tell you that. The only reason is their lawyers are up their butts about it (gay reference for Gomer).

Lets say Dick's puts 870s on sale. A perfectly legal 20YO wants one and they refuse the sale . Is there a lawsuit there? No different than the queers and the wedding cake baker's lawsuit out west.

Hmmm dunno Dogs. I know that walmart & academy will make you wait (some will call and check the status) until a call back if you're delayed on a firearm purchase. Other shops will cut it loose (if your not denied of course) after the 3 business days.

my guess, and that's ALL that it is.......is that the reason there is an apparent difference in this and the cake debacle is that religion was the basis for one, and not the other. I don't agree with it, and I think it's stupid, but I'm guessing that'll be the excuse they give.

This is about money. Nothing else. Their bottom line is the only thing that matters.

In their overall, the sales of these specific guns are fractional compared to everything else. And just like Delta or the other companies who have done things recently, they know that the fractional impact of the folks who really, really "never set foot in the doors again!!!" will be offset by those who applaud this move and will go in to buy something or will go more frequently.

Walmart made changes to firearms several years ago. Everyone lost their chit and ranted about how Walmart is evil and they'll never return. Maybe so. But Walmart is still here, will still be around, and doesn't care about the fractional sales of whatever they didn't stock anymore or the fractional number of people who quit shopping there. Just like Dick's will do. Target is the same way.

Don't use a company? No problem. Your decision just like theirs to make a policy change or whatever. But a mega-corp like Dick's or Target or Walmart isn't going away simply because a tiny sliver of folks are upset.

Hell, Chipotle and Blue Bell had food products that killed people or made them violently ill - repeated times. And pretty much the general populace was like, "Oh, but it's SO good! They're OK, I'll eat it again. Yummy!" Their products literally were a health risk and yet they're both still in business.

Field & Stream Shops may be a different matter. They're a subsidiary of Dick's focused specifically on hunting and fishing, without the soccer balls and other stuff. Hunters and 2A supporters could have a really big impact there IF they truly never spend money there again. So when the treestands go on sale or the coupons arrive for discounts we'll see if the "BOYCOTT 'EM FOREVERRRRR!" folks hold true or give in.

I could appreciate their right as a company to not sell a certain product. But when they issue a statement advocating for the restriction of my 2nd amendment rights, Fugg em. I liked the field and stream store in Birmingham and their ladder stands are the best value I've found. I will not be shopping there again. I hope ALL hunters will follow suit and put them out of business.

If It matters or Not to Dicks I don’t care. I will make it a point to avoid Dick’s and the over stupidity of reacting to a situation that was acted out by a Detanged Individual that makes up .000001% of the population.

Tactical Outfitters builds the best ARs (north of Prattville) and if you have a problem with it he will fix it. If you use them like I do, as tools, they get lots of use and eventually something is going to need some repair. I would never buy a high dollar tool at a big box store.
