I've read he ran a 4.12 or something like that, but Chis Johnson{I think that's his name} running back that used to play for the titans is credited with the fastest time at like 4.2. They only count times since 2006, I guess they didn't keep up with it before then. Kind of like sacks, they used to not keep up with those numbers either. He may have run that fast, no documentation either way.

He may have run that fast, no documentation either way. Pretty sure that 2006 is when they started timing at the combines with the laser. Anything before that was an average of 4-6 guys hand timing with stopwatches. Laser times are typically 0.05 to as much as 0.15 seconds slower than the averaged watch times. Times they are reporting now are 100% legit. Not so much at the earlier combines.

1999 is when electronic timing began at the combine. They still do a hand start, but laser finish. The hand start is why they do an "adjusted" 40 time at the combine now. Usually makes .05 to .15 seconds difference. The old hand timed start and stop could vary as much as almost half a second.
