I have family members, specifically my father and father-in-law who's families relied on hunting, fishing, farming and trading goods to get what they needed to survive. They would butcher a hog, smoke and hang the meat once or twice a year, but most of what they ate was wild game. This is how my people lived, not that long ago. So yes, it's heritage for some of us.

Have we gotten that far from what hunting was originally all about? I'd rather have free range wild game, specifically those animals that don't feed on GMO AG crops with herbicide/pesticides used year after year. I can tell you, the only red meat in my freezer right now is white tail deer of the Tennessee and Alabama variety!

"Now boy, are you sure you can skin griz?"
