I can’t decide if I love this idea or if it takes away from the sport.
From Rich Eisen:
There's an idea being floated in MLB of a manager being allowed to bat whoever he wants when trailing in the 9th.
MLB exec: "No other sport has the best players sitting on the bench in the final minutes of a game. Imagine LeBron, Brady, Renaldo watching from the sidelines"

No. If that's the case then just take all restrictions off and say players that left the game earlier for strategic reasons, can now come back in . Baseball is fine as is other than pace of play.

So, if you have someone on the bench you can bat them in the 9th? Isn't that what a pitch hitter already does? Or are they saying if you left the game earlier you can reenter to bat? The way I understand it, the manager would be able to bat their best or hottest hitter in the lineup in lieu of someone who isn't performing well. Say using the clean up batter again in the 9 hole even if he just batted in the 8th inning. I could be wrong but that is how it reads to me.

Example. If the 345 batted in the 8th they would be allowed to come back in during the 9th as long as your team in losing.

Is there absolutely nothing sacred anymore? Nope. Might was well set up a pitching machine on the mound and have it operate on 10 second intervals.

2 things:
1) This is the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time
2) It will never happen.
One of the great things about baseball is that, for the most part, the way the game is played has not changed in 100+ years. It's consistent. Football rules change quite a bit, strategy/tactics/styles of play change quite a bit. Basketball looks totally different than it did even 20-30 yrs ago. But aside from the gloves and cleats looking a little bit different, there's not a whole lot of difference between the game of baseball in 1918 and 2018, and that's what makes it so beautiful.

Who cares its no longer "americas favorite past time". More mexis and "others' play now. This statement is dumber than the one suggesting managers should be able to change the batting order in the 9th inning. For 1, racial demographics should be irrelevant. Teams are going to draft/sign whoever they think gives them the best chance to win, regardless of race/nationality. Why it would really matter to a fan, I can't fathom. 2nd, even if the racial demographics were relevant, your statement is statistically incorrect. As of 2017, the number of black players was the lowest it's been in over 25 years (less than 8%). Hispanic was around 32ish% and white/caucasian/whatever accounting for nearly 60% of players. So, your statement was both ignorant AND stupid. Congrats, that's a feat.
