This thing does a great job. Time will tell about the durability. Just have to swing at a 20-30 degree angle to the limb your cutting, not 90 degrees.

I've got a couple ditch blades...same animal as that but on a 40" handle and sharpened on both sides. We keep them "shavin' sharp" and it doesn't matter what angle you swing it, it CUTS!

I use machetes a lot and have tried about every brand. No way would I use a fat blade. It creates a weight-forward imbalance that will hyperextend your elbow if you aren't careful. And the thick blade increases drag and make it a less efficient cutter. Best machete that I have found is the Gerber Gator long blade. The longer and thinner blade cut stroke is smooth and balanced. Slices through limbs with a single stroke if you know how to swing it properly.
