geeb1 OP 10 point G Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 2,725 leeds,al	Loaded some 20 gauge tss #9s for the wife's shotgun. Shooting a jellyhead 770 choke. Not the best shooting conditions. Got 180 pellets in a 10" circle, 203 in the 20" circle. Any advice appreciated.

Modified choke, sporting clays. I swear by my life and my love of it that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine

If that's supposed to be a .570 diameter choke , throwing 1 5/8 oz of 9s , that's not very good . That diameter should be flirting with 300 in the 10 at 40 yards. But I guess you have that figured out. I'd polish the barrel, it makes a difference . "Why do you ask"? Always vote the slowest path to socialism.

(carlsons .575) This is a pic of an even looser choke (undertaker .582) at 20 yds. Why would you risk the miss at 20 or closer when the pattern at 40 is adequate to kill 2 turkeys? Even dialing mine down to 210-215 in the 10" at 40, I still get 530 in the 10" and 580 in the 20" at 20 yds ! In the old days of a fixed full in an old 870 shooting copper plated #6's, I was ecstatic if I even got close to 100 in the 10" at 40 yds!! Last edited by gobbler; 02/14/18 08:42 PM.
