China’s richest man is dropping some of his dough in the Adirondacks.

Jack Ma, the co-founder of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has snagged a sprawling 28,100 acres of land 30 miles northwest of Lake Placid, complete with woodlands, nine miles of the St. Regis River, a trout fishery, a 1940s log camp, two homes, a horse barn and even a maple-syrup operation.

The price-tag? A cool $23 million.

But Ma isn’t hoping to turn the giant estate into his own billionaire’s playground.

On the contrary, the mogul, who is a big conservationist in China, bought the private nature reserve, a white-tailed deer habitat, in order to help preserve it and protect its timber and water resources from depletion from the logging, mining and paper industries, his spokesperson told the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the deal.
