If they are that important...why in the heck would you turn them loose if they might go off your property. You dont let your kids run around like a fool. Why would you let a dog do that if its that important to you? Im just asking? I know if i love something then i take care of it. I dont take chances with it. There is no excuse for letting a dog loose then it run onto another property and it go missing or dead. Its no bodies fault but the dog owners fault. He outta be mad at himself and no one else. He knew the risk

Put it this way. Imagine you live in a neighborhood, and your kids play in the yard. You tell them to stay out of the road and they do. But one day Johnny isn't thinking and chases his ball into the road. You have a neighbor that is an upitty old fart, that hates the sound of kids playing. They disrupt his peace and quiet. So when he sees Johnny in the road, he thinks now's my chance. He jumps in his truck and runs Johnny over and kills him. When confronted by the angry parents, the neighbor says "you should have kept him in the yard".

Should the dad beat the snot out of the neighbor before the cops get there to haul him away, or should they not call the police and say "you're right. I should have kept Johnny in the yard"?

May the sound of hounds never die!
