I used to keep squirrel dogs, and like treemydog, I went to great lengths to keep them from getting off the property I was hunting. My dogs hunted pretty close, and I found that if I didn't walk within 200 yards of the property line they would usually not cross it. Occasionally they did and I would have to stand at the property line and call them off a tree, but that would be after deer season was over.

I didn't wanna bother anyone's deer hunt, but more than that, I didn't wanna put my dogs at risk. If you care about your dogs, you won't put them in risky situations. In my experience, squirrel hunters try really hard to look after their dogs and keep them from trouble. I'm sure some deer hunters do; I just haven't met them.
