I'd definitely try this approach with the landowner.

My wife would tell both y'all to eat shit and find a place larger than 3 acres to hunt if y'all tried that on her... Sorry you lost your deer OP but, you're really limiting yourself being confined like that.

I'm just trying to help OP. I would have never asked permission, I'd just went and got my deer

Powpow65 your an idiot if you think that is good advise especially to someone new to hunting. Gives the rest of us a bad name like there not enough issues with people trespassing as it is. If he can't get permission to be on the adjoining property it is what it is. If you called and asked me permission and I said no and found you over there or had went any way I'll push it to the fullest that the law will allow. Now like mentioned above if you came asked I'd meet you at the line and we'll find your deer and it's no big deal everyone goes home happy and shaking hands. If you took it upon yourself with out asking or after I said no. It just pissed everyone off and the gets the warden involved and you'll end up paying for your ignorance. I'm all about recovering a animal you owe to the one you shot to do everything in your power to recover it. But i have no respect or use for a jack ass that thinks he can do what he wants where ever he wants with no respect to the land owner

A few weeks ago someone posted the fines for different wildlife offenses in Alabama. What was the trespassing fine?

Imma just put it like this. I grew up with the understanding you NEVER go on other people's property without permission for any reason. A deer is not worth my life. I've known people who have been SHOT for trespassing. Anybody who believes it's ok to tresspass down here in Lee County, be prepared to duck because people will put you 6 feet under. So if it's my life vs recovering a deer excuse my french but f**k that deer!

I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble. Listen Zay don't do anything illegal. And some good advice is to know the law. Alabama code 13a-7 is the tresspassing law.

You shoot one that runs over onto my land, you can call me and ask permission and I will gladly meet you out there on the property line and help you look for your deer and even help you drag it out if we find it. You just take it upon yourself to just come on over onto my property and start walking around and I catch you, I'll hold you until the warden can get there and have you prosecuted for trespassing. I can absolutely do something to you even if you dont have your gun. It's better to pick up the phone and call. Quit giving FL people a bad rep.

Lol I was waiting on this . Let me explain something to you . I've never not one time hunting in southeast Alabama gone on to my neighbors property for anything including retrieving game . But I had Alabamans just in this season alone . Use my germinating food plots for a four wheeler drag strips . Got pics of locals cutting trails with a machete with his two kids and dog in tow . Had two ladies ride by me on their horses while I was in a stand . But I have never myself trespassed in Alabama not once after many years of hunting Bama ! I've never hunted a state where I was trespassed on more times then Alabama . So smoke on with your stop giving floridians a bad name BS . I did have a place in Georgia that the cod draggers liked that was close to the property line . Had to retrieve a few there but not once in Alabama ever . Frankly I don't give a hill of beans what you think about me you've never met me . But I am the guy you wished was your neighbor ! As long as your not one of those that gets jealous about a Floridian killing big deer in Bama .

I guess I got lucky with the guy that hunts the neighboring property by me. I had heard about him but never met him before and had heard that he was a real ass. Last year I was working on a fork lift at the facility he work at and was just small talking about hunting and by the time I left we had got to know each other pretty good and exchanged numbers and told him that if he ever got in trouble and needed help while hunting or shot a deer and needed help getting it out of the woods don't hesitate to call me and he said for me to do the same if I needed him. If found that doing the right thing and being respectful of people and their property will go a long ways almost always.

If someone is being up front with you doing the right thing and asks for permission, why wouldn't you try and help them by allowing them to track on your property?

I live in Florida. I own property in AL and lease additional property in AL. You were the one that said you'd just go get it. I even included your DA quote in my response. I'm willing to bet you're probably not killing too many "big" deer in AL but if by chance you are, congrats. I dont need any explanation from you, I could tell by that post you made that you dont have a clue what you are talking about. You can take your 60 posts and go find somewhere else to play. You also need to brush up on both property and trespassing laws in FL, GA and AL. It might end up keeping you out of trouble. Having a gun in your possession has nothing to do with whether or not you can be legally convicted for trespassing. Lastly, if you've got all that proof of trespassing on your place, and you know who they are, man up and go talk to the people doing it face to face. If that doesnt work, make some phone calls, get in touch with the sheriff and GWs, provide the pics to them and swear a warrant out on them if you know who it is. If you're there when it is happening, catch the people doing it and hold them until the law arrives and have them arrested. Everybody that owns or leases property has this problem at some point. I've had it in AL, my cousin in MS is fighting it right now, and my brother in GA has had issues before too. It's not state specific, it happens everywhere. There are a lot of available options to deal with it, it just takes some balls and effort and wont ever be solved by bitching about it on an internet forum. Have a nice day wink

Zay, I hate that you lost that deer but at the same time, you did the right thing by not knowingly just going onto someone else's property without permission. At the same time, whomever owns that other property, should have granted you permission to attempt to retrieve your deer if you asked them. I know I would have not only allowed you access but gone and helped you look. Hate it for you. There will be other big bucks. If you hunt long enough, you'll lose a few for various reasons.

Abolt I'm not worried I just take it as a lesson learned. Like I said I was small game hunting and just happened to stumble upon that one. I got a decent sized 7 pointer out in Tuskegee so I'm proud of that. 5 deer total all still hunting out that forest. I say I had a good first 40 days hunting ever. I just know from now on regardless of what I'm hunting, if it's deer season and I can shoot deer in that area with my .308 legally, it's staying on my back so I can make sure the deer is DRT!

Congrats on the kills. That is a true accomplishment on public land in AL.

I've heard this more than once on this thread "Hold them until x arrives" and I just want to point out (since I have slept in a holiday inn more than once) I don't think that's legal either. Whether it's by rope, gun or chain.

That's a lot of deer on TNF. You do some bow hunting out there also?
