I seen a skunk today that got run over. Thought it was a cat at first then I smelled it. Looked like he didn't get the memo that skunks around here are black with white stripes this thing was all white with black stripes. I've heard of them but never personally seen one till today

I've never seen one while in the woods. I see them on rare occasion that have gotten run over in Alabama. I saw tons of them while I was in Kentucky. They apparently committed mass suicide on the Kentucky roadways.

There was a family of them living at Lock 17 on the Warrior River way back in the late 70's early 80's. We used to camp down there and always had them coming into camp looking for food. I haven't seen one since...

We call them polecats in South Alabama. They used to be thick in Grand Bay. My buddy would kill a couple every month messing around his chickens. I haven't seen one in years in Coffee county. Smell one now and again.

Never seen one in the woods; but smell dead ones on every trip to camp down Hwy 5 around the catfish farms. They stink even at 65mph

I was going duck hunting Sunday morning and saw what I thought was a light brown paper bag crossing the road. WHOA THAT IS A SKUNK! swerved like hell to miss it. Thank God I did. It was on Sand Mountain if that tells you anything.

See them All the time around here. Had an ole timer tell me once that once you start seeing an increase on dead skunks on roadways that the deer rut is firing up too. He said the skunk rut and deer rut coincide. I’ve never researched it but have noticed more dead skunks during January.

While driving to the lease I straddled one the other morning not sure what it was, realized it was a skunk as it raised it tail and sprayed. I had my vents open and got a good dose inside the cab, truck smelled like skunk all day. I had one walk up on me while I was slipping out of the stand the same night. I had stopped to try to see the ISS fly over and heard something getting closer to me. I finally turned my hat light back on the see the stinky thing about 10 feet from me. I turned the light back off and quietly went the other way!

In past years I've always seen roadkilled skunks when the whitetail rut was going on. Haven't seen it this year and I haven't seen the usual signs of the whitetail rut like I normally do yet. I've been seeing a lot of does in the past 10 days and not many bucks with them

Over the last couple of weeks, we've probably had 50 ran over within a few mile radius of our house. They're everywhere.

When I was in scout/sniper school, my spotter and I were doing an orienteering exercise (overland navigation). We came to a big tangle of brush, and Rusty thought he could go straight through it. He got down on his hands and knees and stuck his head into the brush...right into a skunk's ass! Fortunately for him, when it "sprayed", it came out more like a wad of snot...hit Rusty right in the eye, but didn't stick and bounced off. It still smelled like skunk, but it could've been SO much worse for Rusty than it was! laugh

We have one spot about 2 miles down the road that seems to be where all skunks around here go to get run over. Almost every one I've seen around home has been in the same spot, give or take 50 yds.

I used to put out skunk scent when I had time to trap. I had a lot of deer come investigate the smell and accidentally step in the trap. I kept having misses and eventually got some game cam videos. I was surprised.

haleyville al,
I have seen a bunch. Worst 2. One was at the freedom hills youth hunt. Me and dad saw a decent buck but it slipped over a hill in one of the Fields. We got down and crawled over the top of the hill. When I topped the hill I was looking dead on into a skunks eyes. Luckily he was cool and calm. We back away from each other.

The second. I was working at south east lumber. Skunk got in the lumber and had a litter. I was spotting for my boss while she was moving the lumber. She caught the the tail of the skunk between the fork and the wood. I saw it and ran. She was committed to the lift. Boss panics and freezes up. Mama skunk sprayed with all her might. We went home early that night and didn't see the boss for 3 days. She was still ripe when she came back. The fork lift aired out for about a week before you could stand it.

Skunks are nothing new around here they're population is as healthy as squirrels around here . I'm talking about a white skunk with black stripes instead of a black skunk with white stripes

When we lived out in the country a whole family of them would come by and eat the cat's food. Very entertaining to watch. Often thought one would make a neat pet.
