And when were these deer released by TN that influenced Eastern Madison and Jackson Counties? My understanding the deer in southern Franklin Co TN were influenced by Alabama deer released on Skyline , not the other way around.
Did these TN deer leap frog the Alabama deer and populate the entire county? Game and Fish has done DNA testing , I've not heard of Northern genes showing up. MOF, there are some native genes in Central Jackson Co. along the river, Chris Cook told me that himself.
The State released deer in I believe '57 on Skyline, those deer disappeared , not to be found. The state believed the whole bunch went north across the state line which was only a few miles away. There were no deer on Skyline, from Alabama or Tennessee , or anywhere else. So they did another release a few years later , those multiplied like rabbits. The first hunt they had on Skyline, a very old buck was shot that was one of the deer released by Alabama the second time.
