That's pretty much the same thing I do.
Except I don't have the ozone machine.
The wife doesn't like scented laundry detergent so we always use scent free detergent.
I bathe with scent free soap and shampoo for the entire hunting season.
Always air dry my hunting clothes outside and keep them outside in a scent free storage trunk.
Also use unscented gun oil. None of my hunting gear comes inside the house during deer season.

Whenever I start getting paranoid about scent control, I think about a guy I hunted with years ago at West Colbert. Jimmy would spend the summer finding a buck he wanted to hunt and would take significant strides to control his scent; Clothes washed in unscented soap, showered before going out, no stopping at the store on the way, changed when he got to the woods, etc. The last year we hunted together, "his" buck was killed by the club president as Wayne sat on a rock in his work cloths smoking a cigarette. Wayne's attitude was always "if the wind is wrong, turn around".

I reckon he wouldn't like me sitting in his stand spitting Copenhagen on the ground

I had one come straight to a line a sunflower seed shells on the ground under my stand the other day

Actually made me question the legality of it

I don't always hunt the line, but when I do, I make sure I'm close to my neighbor's 8 acre bean field.

I know it's wrong but I can't help but think that someone needs to go through his scent-free room and give the whole thing a good heavy spray with Febreeze.

They make medication for folks like him. I'd like to see his trophy room...to see the fruits of his labor.

There’s a guy I know, and I’d put his trophy room up against anybody’s in this state, and he don’t pay the wind no flipping mind at all.

Does he use a spotlight? LOL

I know some of y'all will think this is absolutely crazy, but Swamp Fever posted on here several years ago about using smoke (fireplace smoke) as a cover scent. I decided to try it. The first season that I tried that, during early bow season, I had 7 bucks feeding downwind of me at around 75 yards and not a dang one of them spooked or even remotely acted like they smelled me. Now only one of them was a good un, but still 7 bucks in one wad, directly downwind is a pretty good test.

I also killed an 8 point at 12 yards in KY that same year, after I had "smoked up" prior to the hunt.

I'm sold on being as body odor free as possible and then smoking yourself and clothes in hardwood (or dead leaves) smoke. A bee smoker works great for that.

Big tract deer may not be too familiar with smoke smells but deer within living within a mile of a fireplace smell hardwood smoke pretty often

I know a guy that rode to his spot in his underwear then dressed to hunt a mature buck. He's been lurking on here so let's see if this brings him out!! Jeff you there?

And for the record his trophy room is LEGIT and impressive but he would never post pics in a forum like this.

I'm pretty OCD regarding body wash, deodorant, only wearing hunting boots in the woods (not in town, not when driving, etc). I always wash my clothes in scent free detergent and either air dry or use dirt flavored dryer sheets. But I pay WAY more attention to wind direction and thermals than anything. And I've been known to pee in a scrape or two.

my grandpa is that way, never considers the wind and has killed some studs, of course, he doesn't have a trophy room because he doesn't care about the horns either.

Glad you posted. Been meaning to watch that after I watched some of his hinge cut vids. No way that guy is married with that kind of time on his hands.
Well. If I went through all that all the time I’d have to quit hunting. I do smoke my clothes and packs though.

Don't blame me for your bad decision-

The problem with that "hunt the wind" myth, is here in the south the wind is always wrong.
The wind changes direction constantly.
I've killed deer with my truck, headlights on, and horn blowing. But I don't rely on that method as a general rule.

central ala,
I have no problem hunting the wind and it staying consistent. Tomorrow (Friday) after the rain passes the wind will change to the N-NW. It will be there at least Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. When its 10+ mph it stays pretty consistent. Below 10 mph it starts fluctuating. Below 5 mph is generally constant change. All of that is for the top of a hill. The further down the hill you go the more unpredictable it becomes. In the bottoms is the most unpredictable.
