my grandpa is that way, never considers the wind and has killed some studs, of course, he doesn't have a trophy room because he doesn't care about the horns either.

Glad you posted. Been meaning to watch that after I watched some of his hinge cut vids. No way that guy is married with that kind of time on his hands.
Well. If I went through all that all the time I’d have to quit hunting. I do smoke my clothes and packs though.

Don't blame me for your bad decision-

He was a wise man.

The problem with that "hunt the wind" myth, is here in the south the wind is always wrong.
The wind changes direction constantly.
I've killed deer with my truck, headlights on, and horn blowing. But I don't rely on that method as a general rule.

central ala,
I have no problem hunting the wind and it staying consistent. Tomorrow (Friday) after the rain passes the wind will change to the N-NW. It will be there at least Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. When its 10+ mph it stays pretty consistent. Below 10 mph it starts fluctuating. Below 5 mph is generally constant change. All of that is for the top of a hill. The further down the hill you go the more unpredictable it becomes. In the bottoms is the most unpredictable.
