A .257 Weatherby is a good round, but I'd rather have a .257 Roberts Ackley Improved. Almost as fast in a short action.
The .257 bullet is a little light for anything over 500 yds.
That's when a 7MM 168 grain will show up.
Ackley sounds good, never looked into that cartridge. The OP is considering rebarreling a long action, so that one is not an option.
Have to admit....Im a speed freak....I like em fast...thats why I looked no further than the WBY.
