How about putting an low industrial carpet back in?
I have used muriatic acid Hydrochloric acid) to take the surface and glue off from concrete. Then go back with a good sealer.
I would look into some of that stuff they make to coat garage floors, I think you can get the kit with cleaner and paint for not too much.
