How long are you wanting to vacation? Uber luxurious extended weekend or 5-7days? Probably 5ish days, but depends on the trip.

$1000 might get you a nice long weekend in Savannah. Probably not many other options for that price range.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

With the budget, I would be looking to go with "quality" over quantity.
5 days with a $1000 is going to be what I think of a fairly simple/sparse vacation. At bare MINIMUM $500 in hotels for 5 days with it being closer to $650ish+.
Food Breakfast free at hotel Lunch $20-30=$125+ Dinner $30-50+=$200+
Nothing factored in for fuel, airfare or activities. That sounds horrible. Id rather stay home

$1000 isnt enough for a 2 night weekend in orange beach Great reason to go elsewhere. It baffles me why the gulf coast area is so expensive.

Stay home and be proud of the money you saved. Heck you might like it and do it again.

All work and no play makes for a dull life. I'm fine with spending a little more or staying a little shorter.

All work and no play makes for a dull life. I'm fine with spending a little more or staying a little shorter. Exactly, life is too short to sit at home. I'm sure the Dave Ramsey disciples will tell you not too but you might consider a hotel card credit card. With the holidays coming up and simple routine expenses you could likely easily hit the minimum spend requirement to then get you a couple free nights. That would reduce your expense stretching your budget.

I have developed a fondness for watching money grow. Just keeping mine and not giving it to anyone else is vacation enough to me. Every debt I've paid off, every interest rate that went "poof" has given me great pleasure. When I get to hankering for a vacation all I need do is look at hotel rates, then a stroll through the woods, behind my house, becomes ever more desirable. Dave Ramsey disciple HERE!

Don't get me wrong, I love watching my savings account grow, but the wife likes trips and traveling, and happy wife means happy life, so I'm fine with obliging every so often since we are without kids at this stage in our life. It also helps that I can get a government per diem rate on hotels, so that usually saves $20-40.
