Just curious. How many of y'all mainly hunt public land? I will be other than a few special trips. That's me.
I had much rather be tried by twelve than carried to my grave by six!!!!

I am still killing hogs until the end of the month. Will be gun season before I probably start. I have a hunting club in Wilcox County where I will be doing most of my hunting.

Pulling out at 4:00 am in the morning headed to Pike Co, IL. Will have to be a real nice one in order to shoot, but there are plenty of big ones that live there. We'll see.
How the hunt go?

How the hunt go? Struck out. Headed back now. EHD has just hit the area hard and we only saw one mature buck on the farm we hunted. Big change from last year. We found several good ones that had been dead about a month.

Dang! Hate to hear that. What's the story on your hunt that day? Scouted a spot Sunday morning that I usually only hunt 1 or twice a year and usually with my climber. Well I get there and the sign is so good I decided to hang a lock on stand. I spent all morning back there hanging the stand, cutting shooting lanes, banging all around. Well I felt so good about the spot I had to hunt it that afternoon. I've seen 2 does all afternoon and I'm making my last check around at dark before I start packing up and sure enough I catch a glimpse of white antler behind me. I get drawn back and realize it's very dark but I still felt like I could make the shot and I let it fly. I hear a loud shwack and all I can see is my nockturnal bouncing off through the dark woods. I backed out never even looked for sign and called in CNC. Spent the next morning looking for him to no avail. No blood, hair, beds, arrow nothing. We concluded it was a non leathal high shoulder shot after a nearly 1000 yard track.
