I've got a Rtic 45 and love it. My Coleman 5 day coolers work just as well as my high end cooler.

That's why I bought my orca. Our club isn't close to anything and I didn't want to waste an hour going to the store and back... I've still got 2/3 the ice that i bought Friday afternoon

Coleman also has a 6 day cooler. I sold mine to buy an RTIC and wish I hadn't. The Coleman performed just as well, had wheels and was much lighter.

They still sell them.

I bet you don’t buy good quality guns, optics, cars, trucks, don’t have an ATV and eat bologna every meal too.

I'm considering the Frosty brand right now.

I bought this Coleman sometime in the 80s. I had to replace the original plastic hinges with metal ones after about 10 years, but it is still usable. Got a deer aging in it now. The plastic strip on the drain plug broke off, so it's inside the cooler. I would love to have a $400 cooler, if only somebody else would buy it for me.

RTIC 45, bag 20, and way too much drink ware has worked well for us.

RTIC. I've got several brands including Yeti, Pelican, Orca and the RTIC is as good as any of them. I bought several RTIC last year when they were on sale because 1) I could get about 3 for the price of 1 Yeti and 2) they are tough and the guys use them on job sites. I simply bought them because they don't tear up.

All of them are good coolers from Top to Bottom brand wise. I'm not going to knock any of them the only real difference is the PRICE. It is what it is.

Ultimately none of them will hold ice 5 days if you are opening and closing the lid very much. So that was not really part of my decision or why I bought them.

No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

I remember traveling all over the country, to motorcycle races, 40 years ago. My dad's old green Coleman had been banged around in the back of our 65 Chevy step side for thousands of miles and you couldn't even tell it used to be green. But it kept those Miller ponies ice cold for a week or longer in the hot summer. Me & my cousin, both 6 or 8 years old, would sneak around and steal a pony a week after the races and they'd still freeze our fingers.
Good times.

Those new Coleman coolers like that are junk. My grandma's has 2 old ones. One they bought in the 70's and one they ought in the late 80's or early 90's. The lateces was the week link she's put new ones on her a couple times. I liked hers so I went to go buy me a new one and it's a plastic cooler with a recycled beer can wrapped around it. It weighs about half of what the old ones do. I seen one that fell from the stack and totaled it. The whole corner was caved in. So I bought rtic coolers when they went on sale. I got a 65 and a 20 with i bought the 45 then to but they sold out already. I paid less for my 65 and 20 rtic then my wife paid for a yet roadi that she gave to her brother for Christmas one year.

I sold both my Yetis and replaced one of them with a RTIC soft side. I like it a whole lot better than the Yeti Hopper I had. I haven't decided what size hard cooler I want yet.

Even the RTIC 45 is pretty dang heave when it's full of stuff. I had the 65 and one person can pick it up, but it's almost hernia inducing. If I have any complaint about the name brand roto-molded coolers, it's the weight of the damn things.

I guess if they still made those it would cost more than a yeti. But those were indestructible and kept ice for a month.

My brother has a yeti.
(He'syounger and momma spoiled him).
But, I was reading the "helpful tips" in the owners manual. It actually says "use of cold ice will increase efficiency".
No schit? Really?
Where could I find some cold ice? Any ideas?

Ice can vary greatly in temperature. Ice sitting out is very close to 32F. Ice in a refrigerator freezer is about +10F. Ice in a deep freezer is about -10F.

Ice at -10F as a slightly higher thermal capacity than ice at 32F (due to sensible heat gain), but the real workload is done at 32F as the latent heat load when ice melts into water.

Sensible heat of ice is about 0.5 BTU per pound per degree Farenheit. If you have 10-lbs in a cooler at -10F, it will absorb 1650 BTU before all the ice has melted, but only 210 BTU is because the ice starts at -10F instead of 32F.

I have a Yeti 45 and just recently ran across the ICER brand from Georgia. I got a 75 from them for less than $200 and it works just as well as my Yeti
