Got my best hunting buddy with me deer better watch out.He is behind the crossbow and has been practicing to since spring and ready to go. Now for deer to corporate.

I'm in a ground blind looking over a crabapple tree I found yesterday on Marion County WMA in MS. Never hunted out of a blind with a bow and I foresee this noisy seat being a problem drawing. I need the deafest deer in the forest to come over here.

I’m 20 feet up. No breeze at all.

Looks a helluva lot better than this time last year.

In a pine thicket with planted shooting lanes. Hoping to catch a buck slipping in here to bed from the hardwoods nearby.

Apparently it's customary to come in at or after shooting light on this WMA. I checked in at 5:15 and was the first person here, but since 6:30 I've heard 5 people come riding down the road.

Jumped three out of the field this morning. Seen three does and a 4 point so far.

Nothing yet. Hoping to kill one for the first time on my own property. Good luck to everybody.

Just shot a nannerhead at 32 yards. She did a belly flop at the shot. Hit her a little high and didn’t get a pass through. She sounded like a dump truck going through the woods. Believe I heard her crash.

Saw two bucks and a doe. Bucks weren't legal to shoot and doe was behind too many branches.

Didn’t find her. Found the back 6” of my shaft and one drop of blood. Didn’t expect to find much with it being high with no exit. Evidently I hit above her lungs or she would have been bleeding from her mouth. Could’ve swore she crashed. Got my one screw up for the season out of the way early.

A big fat nothing for me again this morning. Pulled my stand, going with a new game plan tomorrow

Just got settled in. First sit of the year. Hardwood ridge with a swamp chestnut raining down. A lot of deer on camera during daylight. Hopefully I can stick my first deer. It’s HOT!

Probably about to shower then head out. Have a big oak that is dropping, going to try my luck. First deer to walk by gets it.

Set up on a new field that I planted right before Irma came through. Lots of tracks in it hopefully get a shot at one of the bigguns

Skunked 2 mornings in a row for me.

Half way up a tree I picked out earlier this year, and saw a big nest of yellow buzzing nope nopes at the top, so I found a different tree. Option two turns out to be an awful option, only have 1 or 2 shooting windows, but acorns are dropping and wind is good

I’m surprised I even hit that doe. Checked my dial on my sight before heading in. I set it on 42 instead of 32. First time I’ve ever done that in a hunting situation.

Flooding here at the house hoping it will stop and I can run go sit for a minute before dark.

Back at it this evening. Thicket 40 yards to my right andpond 80 yards to my left. In between ateabout 20 white oaks that are dropping!!

I hooked up the Ranger and went fishing today....jerked on several jaws, so that was fun.

I would've loved to been hunting instead, but I hunt that military base and just wasn't in love with the area I had drawn for today (especially because I had the total opposite wind that I really needed). Next two days are a different story though, I've got two of favorite areas, so hopefully I'll get to post a picture on here! So far where I've hunted the white oaks have ZERO acorns. The reds are pouring acorns, but I don't even see acorns in the white oaks (they were loaded last year though).

Geez it's hot... What was I thinking.

Decided to sit a field this afternoon. It's right on the edge of a 7 year old clear cut and some hardwoods. Checked two other fields and this was the only one with enough sign to justify hunting.

I’m present. I climbed in an oak flat. It’s thick and I’ve got whiteoaks dropping all around me. Big pine thicket 60 yards to my left.

Dang 30mph wind just came out of nowhere. Feels like I'm on a roller coaster.

I'm about to fall asleep up here. Hard to get back in this routine

I saw a young buck this morning, and an even younger buck this afternoon. I'll try again tomorrow.

Well the story is, I got set up about 1:15 this afternoon on a hardwood ridge with acorns dropping pretty heavily. Didn't see anything except some squirrels and a woodpecker until around 4:45 when 6 does came from behind me feeding up the hill. 3 of the does came directly under my stand and fed on acorns for 20 minutes before I picked the biggest one and slammed her.I was waiting on 2 of the other does because they seemed to be bigger but they never made it up the hill far enough for me to get a shot. Plus I kept thinking they would bust me if they ever got to close as they were more alert than the 3 under my stand. 2 of the does under me looked straight at me a couple of times but they just kept on grazing like I wasn't there. Shot was from 15 yds sitting down. I didn't want to stand up and make a noise, blowing my opportunity. Made the rookie mistake and climbed down probably 15 minutes after shooting. I did hear her crash but I wasn't positive I made the best shot. Luckily I made a great shot and she didn't make it far. Around a 75 yd recovery. Ramcat broadheads really impressed me. The blood trail was pretty consistent with heavy blood for most of the trail. Super pumped to get my first bow kill. Thanks guys for the congratulations.

I was going to ask what broadhead you use but I saw it in the kill thread. Those ramcats do a number and leave a lot of blood.. I can't wait to sink one in a deer
