Lowndes WMA is a ghost town this morning. skeeters are out in full force with deer or folks? Maybe because it's bucks only for now? Dr. B Folks, plenty of deer....
There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??

We camped at Payne Lake in Oakmulgee WMA and got to our spot about 5:30a. I was with my boys--three of us in a ground blind right in middle of a clear field under a red oak. No acorns unfortunately; this was our plan B site and we haven't scouted it much since last fall. Hung out until about 7:30 when one of my boys got a sneezing fit. Didn't see anything. Zippo.
Was beautiful watching the morning though. The wind was perfect coming in from East-NE. No bugs surprisingly. Will keep trying!
Good luck to you all. Might want to hang out till a little later than 730
We will burn that bridge when we get there

I was set up at 0530 this morning on Redstone Arsenal off a firebreak, about 150 yards from my truck/road. At 0555 an idiot pulls up and parks right beside my truck. 5 minutes later here he comes down the firebreak. I strobed him with my flashlight when he was still 100 yards away. He kept coming. When he was 40 yards away he says "I'm going past you." I reply with "You're cutting me off" and "Find another spot." Stupid thing is if he went past me he would have been in a restricted area, cause I was already close to the corner of the area. So he talks loudly for a minute, none of which I could understand, then goes back halfway to the truck and climbs about 45 yards away.
Then the idiot starts climbing down at 0700 and blows out a doe in my direction. She RAN right under my stand, and I never had a shot.
Oh the joys of public land hunting.

well my hunt was cut short. GW came in on me at 820 to check my license and look around for bait. After he walked around my stand for 10 minutes he cleared me but my hunt was over. You must have had someone report you or they spotted a feeder from the air. That's almost always the case if the game warden already has you on his list for opening morning. They don't usually walk all the way to your stand just to do a license check. Good thing the GW was wrong.

No deer, but several turkeys (ironic given my stuggles at killing one). First a lone mature gobbler, then later a group of 3 or 4 including 1 jake that was [attempting to] gobble his head off. Also found another, much better, spot and put another stand up (see the other thread I posted about it).

Had no service this morning, but didn’t see nary ‘a deers anyway. Bunches of turkeys, jakes gobbling and sparring. Saw 3 coons and a bunch of fox squirrels. Drove about 40 miles south to private land this pm, just chillin in the tree right now. Hardwood ridge in the middle of head high cutover. Wind is VERY marginal.
We were on the edge of Eternia, when the power of Greyskull began to take hold.
