This Sunday will be 17 years to the day Mr. Restrictor plate came from 18th to 1st in the last five laps to win his last race. Maybe Jr. Can win his last one here on Sunday.

I was too. When they came out of turn 4 and that black #3 was leading the pack, the crowd roar was louder than the cars.
Jr. has already given up, he's driving scared after his accident that gave him all of the head issues. He can't wait for this season to be over with.
Probably so. After all of the increased knowledge about severe concussions, seeing his father die and knowing the risks involved with the career he chose - and it was his decision, no doubt - he's probably ready to enjoy life without the risk of further brain problems, severe injury or death.
Some folks get to walk away and find another path. Good for him.

Jr.'s a lot smarter than people give him credit for. He waited till later than most to get married and by all accounts he married a good one. I believe she's the greatest influence in his life and his love for her combined with a desire to do more things with her away from racing convinced him that it was time.

That race was the last one I've been to at Dega. We were just past turn 4.
When Dale came by, someone had rubbed the 3 off the right side. They come by quick. Guy in front of me with binos gave me the play by play.
What a damn race for an Earnhardt fan. Place went wild!
Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.
My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

I dang sure wouldn't call her a good one. Hot as a firecracker? Yes. She met Jr doing design work on his house. Amy was married to a Kentucky coach at the time she met JR and had an affair with Jr. Ended up divorcing her husband then marrying JR. Yep, she's a real "stand by your man type gal". Your definition of good must be vastly different than mine.

And honestly, smells to me like her "influence" on JR to get out of the sport is for mostly selfish reasons. She basically pussified JR. I mean, I get all of those reasons there are for retiring. But he's no man like his dad was.
I had a similar experience with this one. He hit so hard that you could feel it.
That was the first race I ever attended. They touched right in front of where we were sitting. I remember looking down the track and seeing Earnhardt’s roof number. The race was shortened 60 laps and Gordon won it.
