Would it be worth a $1000 to kill these animals just to prove you saw them with your own eyes?

Who would believe you if you said you took a picture like this anyhow?


I have dreamed all my life of seeing proof like this of what I've heard about all my life. I don't think I'm alone. I'm not sure I would share it if I did.

If a panther was killed in St. Clair County one year before I was born, then my grandparents may very well have been telling the truth about seeing them in Blount County in their younger days. They certainly understood the consequences of lying on Judgement Day. Did they see black panthers? I believe they surely thought they did.

Could they have mistaken a brown panther for a black one in low light or after dark when the sightings most often occured? I certainly think so.

Is it possible that melanistic panthers existed from time to time. I certainly believe it was possible.
