The Big Fat Bitch has stalled soaking up Cuban Cigars and Fancy Dranks in the Keys and has not decided which of us coast folks she wants to punch in the mouth. So I am giving the big fat storm her own special thread number 4. Mind you we did Katrina in one thread back then and I called that storm Historic three days before it hit.

What's your gut telling you Skinny on the landfall location?

This storm is still acting like Ivan in a sense, but I have never seen a big storm flat out stall like this one has.

It's almost like this hurricane played the front 9 and stopped for a cold beer and a hot dog before hitting the back 9. They've cancelled school for Monday and Tuesday here in SC but it's looking more and more like we aren't going to catch a whole lot of this one.

Side note, I live right next to the Congaree river and the power company here has had the dams realeasing water pretty steady the past few days expecting this thing. Going to be interesting to see what all goes down the next few days.

They have been saying it will hitTampa all day, but i agree with you. I think its going to push further West.

This is the first major hurricane for me with 3 small kids, and it puts it into a different perspective.

If I was a water flow guy in SC I woulda been dumping as much as could a week ago. This storm is gonna overfill everything on the east side of the Appalachian hills.

We shall see. At this pont nothing would surprise me with this storm. Just hoping it doesn't flood us out. Columbia is prone to flooding, hurricane or not. Will be sending updates when this thing makes landfall.

What does all this mean for central alabama early next week? Seems like it would be pretty weak by the time it got here

We will burn that bridge when we get there

I think y'all will be alright. We planned to deploy assets to your region, but now we are looking elsewhere. Glad y'all are safe for the time being.

I'd be surprised by Skinny's predictions in central Alabama based on the intel I have. Heck that doesn't mean I'm right though. Hunker down.

central ala,
I really appreciate this and other weather discussions. More informative to me than what I get elsewhere and can ask questions.

Yesterday morning, between Lumpkin, Ga. and Cuthbert, Ga., it was 58 degrees with a light northeast wind. Saw one deer at 7:30AM. Doe. Talked to my wife last night and she wanted to know when I was coming home to Slocomb, Al. Told her I was staying at the camp and she was on her own. Hmmm, that didn't seem to go over very well!! This morning it's 68 degrees and breezy. Still NE but gusts up to about 20. Packing up and headed home to batten down the hatches. Y'all stay safe.

Tornados up here is my biggest worry. We'll probably have more than enough to go around.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
