I don't really give a rip about the eclipse but got to thinking about where it does get totally dark do you think it will cause turkeys to try and fly up away from their normal roost area kinda like caught off guard or not last long enough to affect them at all? I even wonder how deer might act such as feeding and moving.

They will fly up for sure, they are going to have to. It's gonna catch a lot of birds way away from their normal roost areas too I believe.

Not sure why yall think they would fly up to roost. They usually roost right at or slightly after sundown and the eclipse will only be as dark as right after the sun goes below the horizon i.e. sundown.

I've read that they fly up on these total or near total eclipses. Never been out when it happened so I couldn't say.

Yeah gobbler here it wasn't nearly dark enough to even think about it being threatening for a turkey to fly off the ground. Not the first time I've been wrong.
