I would have thought there would have been several coyotes, looked like two, maybe three. Just wore him down.

I find it curious that he stayed right in front of the camera the entire time.

One three different occasions I've witnessed a single coyote take down perfectly heathy adult deer. All coyotes terminated before the deer where killed except one.

Don't be fooled by claims that coyotes only kill sick or defenseless deer. It's just not true.

That's the way they kill. Even when they chase fawns they don't necessarily run 'em hard. Just a steady trot behind them and they'll be too tired to try & get away.

If you see a deer run past you with it's tongue hanging out, soon behind him will be a yote or two.. Nature is cruel. To be eaten alive must be the pits.

Don't tell Outback about this thread. He says coyotes NEVER kill healthy deer. <wink>

That is a shame.. But Cool that the sequence was captured. There was a span of a-3 hours or so that wasn't captured. Probably chased him and ran him down for that time period.

Killed a Lab mix a few years ago, then had to put the squirming fawn out of its missery he was carrying. I would bet if we had accurate data dogs kill as many as coyotes if not many more

Several years back a doe came by me that looked wore out, I heard footsteps coming trough the dry leaves and figured it would be a buck..... Wrong, it was three dogs, two of them died that day.

I bought an ATV to get to my hunting area, now half the fun of hunting is the ride in and out.

That is one bad way to die.

One more reson that I NEVER pass up a shot at a yote while in a stand.

I've reformed Jack, I don't think those cuddly little bundles of fur would harm anything in the woods. Yotes kill any deer?? Are you kidding me?

Just ask Gobbler..alll those fawns are killed by folks handling and tagging them, cause all kinds of weird stress causing them to just up and die. Every now and then a VERY hungry yote will just lick a dead fawn trying to revive it and, GET THIS, get the blame for killing it.

DAMN, it just ain't fair to yotes....

Now labs...those blood thirsty killers of wildlife, I can't and won't take up for them.....

Carry on, I'm going for a walk in Wonderland and see how my coyote friends are doing.....

That is wild. What are the odds of watching that play out on a trail camera?

It's a shame that such a great buck lost his life to a bunch of lowdown sorry yotes. I think the next yote I see I will shoot it in the bucks honor.

I'm just playin.... I would shoot the sorry bastard regardless.

Kill yotes. Kill yotes. Kill more yotes.

In the Western states, the reason all ranchers keep a rifle in their truck is so that when they're driving along and see a yote, they stop and shoot it. It doesn't matter if it's their ranch or not--there's an understanding that you're helping out by doing so.
Yotes kill the crap out of calves on ranches, and you won't meet a rancher who thinks they're part of the 'balance of nature'.

A decent dog will catch a deer long term if it can keep on its track. Deer are faster but aren't built for running long distances.

Not that a couple yotes couldn't kill a healthy adult deer - they probably can - just for you folks who like to misquote me. However, when have any of you EVER had a deer spend 1/2 this amount of time in one place in front of a camera, much less being torn apart by coyotes. He might have made it if he had thought to... RUN AWAY! I find it HIGHLY suspicious. Damn shame regardless.
