Too zoom in and out easily, hold Ctrl and roll the scroll wheel on your mouse.
In any window and on the desktop this will work as long as the default mouse settings haven't been changed. You, sir, are a genius. Never knew that. Another helpful is to hold Ctrl + Shift and hit + or - to rotate.
