I went and enjoyed it. A few more guns in there than last year.

One just needs to know what to expect out of it.

If the jackleg over that expo would drop the booth price then you would get more hunting booths their. Same way in Huntsville. I'll probably setup in BHam next year and I'm sure I'll do decent with calls. Really all depends if I can get someone to split a booth with me

I went today for the first time in 10 years. Highly disappointed. Nothing really to look at. Mostly crap that I don't want. A lot of pay hunts places have booths and even saw a booth advertising breeder bucks. We bought one elite south shirt because they used one of my stepsons pictures on their advertisement board. And I did get to look at a few UTV's that I'm interested in but other than that it was a waste of time and money.

I went for my last time about four years ago. Way too many booths there that have absolutely nothing to do with hunting. It is all about making a buck and padding the pockets. I guess in a way I do the same thing.

Used to be some good times there-Years ago. Met Ben Lee and he signed a book he had written for me. He printed his name in it. I got to sit down at the motel with him and talk hunting. He was as country as they come and I loved everything about him! I also always enjoyed Joe Kelly. He was the same type man as Ben Lee. Country all the way through. We talked hunting for hours also. Got to meet Dan and Guy Fitzgerald, and Noel Feather who were some of the early industry leaders. These were the good ole days of the hunting show before all the junk came in. I would go back for lineups like these.

I remember going because of the special deals you could find. I believe it was Mark's Outdoors that would always set up on the top floor and they'd have treestands marked down, I remember buying a Hoyt bow about 10 years ago that was a great buy. What happened????

If you don't like the deer shows' vendors, complain to the show promoters with specific examples and why you won't be back.

Just saying "Th' show sucks!" doesn't help. They ignore that. Anyone would.

Listing specific reasons makes a difference. It's easy to find the promoter's contact info with an online search or two, also, and then send it. Sending to any show sponsors also matters.

Every year the same people complain. Every year the same people go back. Every year the expo stays the same.

I haven't been in 2 years now but wish I had. Just didn't have the time.

It's almost getting a fair carnival type atmosphere now. If I want to look at your product I'll stop by and do it. But don't pester the piss out of me while I'm walking through. The girls pushing the tens shockers won't approach me anymore. She walked up and hande me one and said this is yours. I said thank you and stuck it in my pocket and started to walk off. She stoped me and said you can't do that. I said you handed it to me and told me it was mine.

If you've seen the promoters contacts then post them up. I would definitely send them an email and list reasons on how bad the show is. Maybe if several of us on here did it, it would change. Well, it wouldn't change but it would make me feel better.

Surely you don't think for a second they give a rats arse do ya?

All the care about is $600+ a booth I know venders that have complained and offer advice and the promoter didn't care to hear it

It's all about money, money, money.

The more vendors, the more money, money, money they make.

Ford150man, it's not hard to do a Google search for "Birmingham World Deer Expo promoters" and find this:

http://www.worlddeerexpo.com/contact.htm

And of course all these shows are about making money. The show promoters aren't doing this out of the goodness of their hearts because they love hunting or turkeys or kids shooting bows or boats or fishing. ALL of them are doing these shows to to make money and they do, or they would not keep doing the shows each year.

Funny, funny, funny!!!
Let's break this down.
BJCC rent convention center for $XXXX
Bubba Gump Coker rents BJCC for $XXXX
Bubba Gump Coker needs to rent booths for $X times 500 to pay BJCC $XXXX
Bubba Gump Coker has to pay for tickets and make some $$ for groceries so Bubba Gump Coker rents to anybody that wants to pay him $X for a booth. Don't matter if its "Poopouri", sanitary napkins, back scratchers, the latest specialty flavored corn, newest sho'nough whimbang thingamajig that you can't kill a deer without, knitting needles or handmade quilts. Bubba Gump Coker has got to sell booths for all of those suckers that will keep going because they know this year they are going to get the magic potion or specialty flavored corn, newest fashion statement camo and en vogue sanitary napkin so they can sit in the shooting house watching the green field for that last 30 minutes of light to kill that GIANORMOUS MONSTER double beam ol' mossy horn mature spike they seen last year and can get on back to the camp to not miss the latest football game or "huntin'" infomercial!

I can't believe that the deer show really doesn't have anything there to actually assist with people learning anything about hunting, oh well to each their own!
