Don't mean to get anal, but that feller doesn't need, much less pay for, a big ol' 12 power Hubble when he can't see to shoot over 100 yards. If he can't see then the larger power would be a help. I may be wrong but , I took it he's never killed one beyond 100yds and by not seeing, he's in the woods not fields. Even out to 400 about 9 powerish is plenty IMO.
